Charlie brings to the 325thGIR his leadership and experience from having lead the 325th AIR gaming group. Charlie is also a former Airborne Infantryman in C co. 3/325th 82nd ABN (WWG - Grenada). His wisdom, leadership and experience are a great asset to our community and we are lucky to have him as a member and as an officer. We are pleased to grant Charlie the rank of First Lieutenant.

For several years, Chumee has been a member of the 325thGIR. He has consistently shown the qualities that the 325thGIR strives for: maturity, initiative and integrity. Chumee has supported the 325thGIR and his fellow members in game and out. For this we thank him and promote him to the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Call of Duty 5: Call of Duty World at War Screenshots and more
Call of Duty 5

While the idea of another WW2 FPS sounds a bit painful to some, the 325th GIR is welcoming the concept with open arms. As a community founded on World War 2, we are please that Call of Duty: World at War developers Treyarch aims to make the game the best WW2 shooter ever, according to Senior Producer Noah Heller.

"Modern Warfare opened the door to so many people new to Call of Duty," senior producer Noah Heller said.

"The game built great fertile ground for us to start on and if we're going to say: 'Look it's Christmas, here's another Call of Duty as you loved it last year', then we need to make sure the game is high quality or people won't trust what Call of Duty is."

Heller added, "This has to be the best shooter and has to redefine the World War II genre."

Call of Duty: World at War is a World War II first-person shooter and the latest installment in the Call of Duty video game series. The title is scheduled to ship in 2008 for PC, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360. It is set in the Pacific theatre and Eastern front of World War II.

Call of Duty: World at War are promising some elements that we are looking forward too. The swimming elements will be introduced to the series for the first time in single player and multiplayer. While in water, the player can not sprint and will only move at half speed.

World at War will feature cooperative gameplay (two players via split-screen or four players online) for the first time in the franchise. Vehicles, first introduced in Call of Duty: United Offensive, will return as well as new squad-based elements within multiplayer.

On a developing aspect, World at War will have a two-year development cycle, double that of Treyarch's previous title, Call of Duty 3. The game will be powered by an enhanced version of Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare engine - improvements have been made to the physics engine and lighting model. Environments are now more destructible and can be set on fire with the flamethrower (which features propagating fire). Bullets can also cut holes in thin wood, making a gap big enough for the player to climb through.

Here are a couple of first looks screenshots.

Call of Duty 5: Call of Duty 5 Set in WW2 Pacific Theater, Features Co-op and Multiplayer Vehicl
Call of Duty 5The first details on Call of Duty 5 have emerged from the latest issue of UK gaming magazine GamesTM and the latest issue of the Official Xbox Magazine, revealing the game to be titled Call of Duty: World at War and set within the Pacific Theater of World War II.

Developed by Call of Duty 3 veterans Treyarch, the game will arrive on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS this fall. The Wii version is supposedly powered by the same engine that powered Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4 (PC, PS3, 360) Call of Duty 5 will support the Wii Zapper controller shell, and is being handled by a separate team within Treyarch.

Call of Duty: World at War will sport cooperative play (a first for the series) as well as include vehicles and squad-based elements in multiplayer.

The game is also said to be "gritty". How gritty? The opening scene of the first level we are shown is a Japanese commander stubbing a cigarette out in the eye of a prisoner before slitting his throat - the blood splatters and dribbles down the side of the tent you are being held in. He turns towards you to deal out the same treatment but help arrives just in time. Cue a daring level-long escape.

Treyarch is planning to make the game more of a survival horror experience than other games in the series by exploring "the darkest corners of WWII...".

Infinity Ward, who did sterling work with Call of Duty 4 have not explained why they won't be developing the next game in the franchise. Job listings had previously indicated Treyarch might return to the franchise, with speculation that series creator and Call of Duty 4 developer Infinity Ward is already working on Call of Duty 6.

Broadcast
Its size and alternating routes make “Broadcast” great for large team games. A large, multi-story television station with plenty of window vantage points creates the perfect setting for floor-to-floor combat. The station is surrounded by extensive outdoor areas consisting of a long parking lot, surrounding buildings with sniping hiding spots and side-rooftop access to the top and bottom floors of the television station.

Creek
A large wide open village in the woods, “Creek” consists of heavy foliage, great for sniper cover: a deep ravine offers an excellent vantage point for ambushes; an underground cave offers an alternate evasion route; and various multi-floor houses populate a patchwork of connected farmland. This extensive open map is great for snipers with plenty of natural coverage consisting of rocks and trees. There are various routes for advancement from both high and low vantage points over and underneath the hillsides. Another great map for large team games.

Chinatown
A modern revision of the classic Call of Duty “Carentan” map, “Chinatown” takes players to the foggy downtown district of a Chinatown. A night time setting, the cityscape is well lit by the full moon and the glow of brightly colored lanterns and neon lights from local businesses. This district offers a variety of open-street and interior settings, perfect for fire fights throughout the connected roads, courtyards, antique shops and markets within it. Great for all game types and players.

Killhouse
“Killhouse” is an enclosed warehouse made of plywood structures, mock-ups and speed-run courses used for training, creating the right mix of obstacles for small team games or free-for-alls with a variety of soft and hard cover points spread throughout the entire ground level.

Brother In Arms: Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway
Brother In Arms

Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway will be the third entry in the Brothers in Arms series of video games which follow a squad of men, of the 101st Airborne Division (502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment) led by the player-character Matt Baker, through the larger Allied Operations in World War II. This game once again puts players in the role of Staff-Sergeant Matt Baker during Operation Market Garden in the later stages of WWII.

The game has many new features, including the ability to command a further squad from a selection of new specialized units (bazooka teams and machine gun teams). When a command is issued, the player model uses hand signals to issue the command to his squad, just like the previous games in the series. The player also has the ability to take cover behind objects, in a manner similar to other FPS games, which is an integral part of the games strategy. The game is built on the Unreal Engine 3 and the PC version can take advantage of the features in DirectX 10 which allows for an enhanced graphical experience for more realistic gameplay.

According to Gearbox president Randy Pitchford, Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway's visuals are a "15-20 percent" leap over Epic's Gears of War.

"Hell's Highway is Unreal Engine 3, it's the engine that powered Gears of War," Pitchford said. "Since Gears of War, Epic's invested a lot in the technology and it's much better than what was in Gears. And we've worked a lot on this technology; so you're seeing fidelity that's about 15-20 percent higher than Gears of War."

One key feature in Brothers In Arms is destructible cover, which can play a pretty big role in the firefights. There are also a few new commands you can issue, like snipe or destroy. A neat visual tweaks is the inclusion of occasional cinematics which are triggered by certain events. For instance, Taking cover with your squad shooting it out with some Germans and popping up and landed a quick headshot. The game slowed and the camera angle switched to show the bullet blasting through the guy's eye. With the weather FXs, the game play becomes realistically different cutting down on your ability to spot enemies.

It's a definitely game that some of us here will be checking out when it gets released this August.

Medal of Honor: Medal Of Honor: War On Terror?
Medal Of Honor: Airborne

What began as a phenomenon on the original PlayStation has declined into a series that boasts little more than average FPSs. Most will agree that the last truly great installments were Frontline for the PS2 and Allied Assault for the PC. Since then, things seem to have been shaky, and last year's Medal of Honor: Airborne still struggles to get off the ground in the FPS world.

According to a portion of an EA survey, and a variety of other sources, it seems Medal of Honor could be getting a drastic overhaul. Apparently, the survey focused heavily on a new concept EA is considering for their franchise, and it centers on what some may see as still-too-sensitive material: the current war on terror. That's right, if this is true, you'll be seeking out Taliban and Al Qaeda terrorists in Afghanistan. The premise operates around a true-life 2002 coalition forces mission entitled, "Anaconda," and players will take control of Petty Officer First Class Neil Roberts, a Navy SEAL and a man charged with the difficult task of saving Anaconda from complete disaster. Here's a snippet from the survey:

"In March of 2002, coalition forces moved into Northern Afghanistan to root out and eliminate a known enclave of Taliban and Al Qaeda terrorists. The operation, code-named Anaconda, was a multi-national offensive designed to force the enemy out of entrenched caves and strong points carved into key positions overlooking the Shahikot Valley. From this position, coalition troops on the ground could then encircle and squeeze the enemy into submission (hence the name 'Anaconda'). It was one of the greatest disasters in modern military history."

Interestingly enough, it seems we'll be taking on multiple roles in the game, too. The concept talks about playing as soldiers, mortar teams, Predator drone pilots, forward combat controllers, and long range snipers. Now, this is the first we're hearing of a video game based directly on the war on terror that rages to this day, so we're wondering what kind of response EA will receive. Well, we have games for every other war, right? We'll have to wait and see what happens on this, and we also have to confirm with EA that this really is their intention for the next Medal of Honor.

Call of Duty 5: Call of Duty 5 Confirmed
Call of Duty 5

Many gaming forums and site are starting to post information regarding Activision announcing Call of Duty 5. after spending some time doing a bit of research, here is what we have to go on as far as FACT! Actual information regarding the fifth game of the Call of Duty series is extremely rare, although there is an overflow of unsubstantiated rumours and speculation circulating the net. What is certain is that Call of Duty 5 will be released for all the important platforms: the PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 2 and 3, the Nintendo Wii and in a specially converted edition for the Nintendo DS Lite handheld. According to the news portal Golem, the developer team has also been determined. Treyarch will accept this task. Treyarch was already responsible for the third game of the shooter series. But according to the consensus among fans, the third game was also the weakest of the series. So how come Treyarch has earned the honour of getting a second try?

This is where the speculation starts. One theory is that Activision already made the decision to let Treyarch develop the fifth series instalment, before the release and major success of Call of Duty 4. Moreover, the people working on CoD 5 had already started development before Modern Warfare was even released. Otherwise there is hardly any other explanation for why CoD is taking place in WWII again. At least this is being asserted by numerous different online sources. We can expect some official announcements on the official site for the fifth edition of the CoD-series within the coming weeks. There are still a few hints that the game might make it to shop shelves by 2008.

During a conference with stockholders and analysts, Mike Griffith, Publishing CEO of Activision, all but confirmed the next Call of Duty game. He had dropped some choice words, as well as surprises, regarding the fifth Call of Duty game. As far as the game's setting, Griffith described it as "new military theater", and that's anyone's guess as far as what it could mean.

Call of Duty 2: COD2 Movies
Community

Our Call of Duty 2 video pages are now up on the site. Over the past couple of years Call of Duy 2 was our primary game. We posted some of our videos on youtube and you are welcome to check them all out!! The videos range from showing our Glider Realism server mods such as swaying effects and teamkilling punishment, to head-blowing fun on the server. Plus, you get a taste of our colorful teamspeak (always an added bonus)!

As a community, we have moved on to Call of Duty 4 and with that, we hope to see some new videos. So members, get Frappin!

SGT.Charlie and CPL.Desertfox of the 325th GIR are playing around on the Glider Rider Realism Server showing off some of the features of the custom maps that we ran on our COD2 server.

MSG.Tipps showing off his unique tactic of attacking with a smoke nade. Its quite funny, but wrong. On our Call of Duty 2 server, smoke nades have potential to shellshock you and cause slight damage when you are near them going off.

Fly4Luv demonstrates for us the unique art of head shots. You have to give him props for being the one losing his head. This is an AWE feature that was added to our server.

First introduced by Izzy in 2002. The Nade Fumble most commonly accures when a player pulls the pin, and then think about where to throw. In this video, LT.IMan charges in on an enemy only to have a nade tossed at his head.

MSG.Tipps from the 325th GIR, shows off his skills with a sniper rifle. Members on TeamSpeak need a bit of reminder on langauge use, it was a pain having to add censor bleeps to the movie.

LT.Hammers and LT.IMan demostrate our Team Killing punishment. To prevent gamers from TKing on our server, a tank will come down and kill the Team Killer after their second kill. It will also force the TKer to play with reflective fire on for the rest of their visit on our server.

325th Glider Infantry Regiment Call of Duty 2 Realism server. M1 Garand sounds, Weapons effects, Cookable nades, Realism settings with smoke, bandaging, weapon jamming and all that good stuff. MAJ.Kanga demostrates a few of our realism perks.

The map Ramelle for COD2 is the last battle scene from Saving Private Ryan. Here you will see a charge by the Allies across the map from LT.IMan's point of view. The chatter on TeamSpeak is a bit of a laugh.
